Keep that Trojan Horse in the Stable
Let's face it. We are becoming more a society more dependent on our computers, to help us organise, improve and enjoy our lives. And the more that we are dependent on our computers, the more vulnerable we have become to attacks from those lurking in cyberspace who, at best, want to make our lives a little less pleasant through infecting our computers with viruses and at worst steal our private information and ultimately our money through injecting a trojan horse into our computer.
It can happen to anyone. The innocent age of the internet is sadly long gone and computer owners who still trust and believe or simply don't know any better are leaving themselves open to an increasingly viscous problem in ways that they really should never have to know about.
There is a well know proverb that says" shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted" which means only solving a problem once it has been discovered. A modern day version of the same proverb could be "shutting the back door to your computer after the Trojan Horse got in."
While a bolting horse can cause quite a bit of damage, and mostly to itself, a trojan horse can do considerably more. That is why in this day and age it is irresponsible to leave a computer without protection.
There are many computer owners and operators who have heard of the dangers of computer viruses and Trojan horses yet still refuse to protect themselves against them. They usually offer the argument that they don't transact any online business, send just a few e-mails a day and rarely surf the web. The news is that anyone whose computer is connected to the internet is at risk, and by refusing to recognize the dangers, they are also leaving others open to infection by viruses. Friends, colleagues and family who they send an infected e-mail to, and who trust the source will sometimes open the mail and unsuspectingly download a virus into their computer. Is it worth it to save a few dollars and very little time to expose others to the risks of computer viruses?
There are any number of ant-virus software programs available for immediate download that will provide you and your computer with all the protection that you need. If you are considering downloading an anti-virus program, don't just think about yourself, think about others. Invest in as good as you can get, and preferably one that has been recommended by the major operating systems producers such as Microsoft or Linux. If you do you will find that McAfee anti- virus software is at the top of the list. Find out why by giving this excellent software program a free trial.
